From Grand View overlook you see Meander Canyon, carved by the Colorado River. You can see the 100 mile White Rim Road which follows the canyon rim south to the Confluence of the Colorado and Green Rivers, then back north along the rim of the Green River's Stillwater Canyon.
By 11:30 I was on the trail to Grand View Point. It's changed since I was there before. You now start immediately downhill from the parking lot on stone stairs built to take you right to the edge of the cliff. The trail now follows the edge for a few hundred yards which is nice but there are stairs everywhere at the slightest incline or decent. (Very "national parkish," but I like the walk along the edge of the cliff.) I'm surprise they don't put up fences. Thank goodness they haven't because that would ruin everything. Anyway, since it's so easy now and the path is clearly marked, there were quite a few people walking out there. |
