A hike to Pitkin Lake in early June involves a variety of hiking conditions. The first half of the trail will be spring-like with lots of green foliage. Pitkin Lake Trail begins at 8400 feet near I-70 exit 180 in Vail, Colorado. On the north side of the freeway drive east a short distance to the end of Fall Line Drive where there are 17 designated spaces for trail parking on both sides of Pitkin Creek.
