Collegiate Peaks
This is the view southwest from the La Plata summit toward Crystal Lake and the Collegiate Peaks. Among them are Mount Columbia, Mount Harvard, Mount Princeton and Mount Yale, all more than 14,000 feet above sea level. The Collegiate Peaks and others to the south, La Plata and mountains to the north including Elbert, Mt. Massive, Mt. of the Holy Cross, Mt. Jackson and Gold Dust Peak (made famous by Capt. Craig Button) are collectively known as the Sawatch Range. The range stretches 90 miles from the Eagle River in the north to Antora Mountain in the south.
