This is the Vail Pass bicycle trail. Until the late 1970s, Highway 6 was the main road over Vail Pass. When I-70 was constructed to replace it, a portion of Highway 6 remained, running about halfway up the pass. It was closed to motor vehicles and became part of the paved recreation trail from Vail to Breckenridge. You can see a little fresh snow at the top of Bald Mountain. Winter is coming.
