This photo of the Colorado River at the northern end of Glen Canyon was taken at Hite Marina, Utah. Until recently, the entire bottom half of the photo would have shown the water of Lake Powell Reservoir. Drought and continuing overuse of the river water is slowly resulting in a restored Glen Canyon which has been under water for 40 years. Since the reservoir will likely never fill again, there is a proposal to decommission the dam and create a new national park around the canyon. Click here for more information.
