Winter Park
Winter Park Ski Area opened in 1940. It was one of the first ski areas in the United States. Until the Moffat Railroad Tunnel conquered the Continental Divide, there was no town and few people in this part of Colorado. But since then for more than 60 years the Ski Train has provided easy access to Winter Park for skiers from Denver. The ski area rises from the end of the Moffat Tunnel at 9000 feet to the summit at over 12,000 feet. Please click on the thumbnails to view photos and descriptions.
