In The Needles, near the upper ends of Lost Canyon and Squaw Canyon the trail goes over this pass, making a loop that takes you through both canyons. There is normally water in Lost Canyon. This day there was plenty in Squaw Canyon as well. I met a group of backpackers from Boulder, Colorado here who had been camping in The Needles for five nights. It snowed on them two nights earlier. I'd bet snow in The Needles is beautiful; but dangerous on these slickrock trails. Please click here for photos and desciptions from the trail.
