Just above the third lake it became obvious that I would soon have to cross a lot of snow. I was hopeful that it was firmer than on my last hike, two weeks ago, and that I could stay on top and not have to "post-hole" my way to the top of the pass. I was in luck; the snow was firm to walk on and I was able to find my way around most of it on sunny rocks where all the snow had melted. From here at 11,900 feet you get a nice view of the largest of the Missouri Lakes. The lake is too big to get a good shot of from up close.
