Liberty Cap, the white rock near the center, as the panorama begins loading, is a 160 Million year old remnant sand dune for which this trail in the Colorado National Monument was named. Geologists might be facinated by it, but I found it to be no more interesting than the rest of the rock formations in the area. This trail, coming out of Fruita, Colorado is far steeper than the one that climbs into Monument Canyon. Liberty Cap trail climbs 1100 feet in about 2.5 miles.
