To get to Horseshoe Lake, I drove up Kinney Creek Road #141, easily passable in a low-clearance vehicle, to the Kinney Creek trailhead. After two miles the trail intersects with Horseshoe Lake Trail and continues on to Keyser Divide. Both trails go through thick forests of spruce, fir and lodgepole pine with very few breaks in the trees to see any kind of view. The hiking is moderate, with only a few short steep sections. An alternate route to Horseshoe Lake via Upper Keyser Creek Road and the Lake Evelyn Trail would involve a climb over Keyser Divide.
