This climb to the summit of Mount Massive began on the North Halfmoon Trail, off Halfmoon Road about 10 miles southwest of Leadville, Colorado. A high-clearance 4WD vehicle is necessary to drive all the way to the trailhead. The view south from the first part of the trail is of French Mountain, right and Mount Elbert, left. |  |
