At about 12,500 feet where Pacific's west ridge climbs steeply, I paused to enjoy the view of Mayflower Hill and Jacque Peak. Mount of the Holy Cross can be seen in the far distance. The ridge (behind me) looked seriously difficult and there were dark clouds directly overhead. I considered going home to pick another route on the map and try another day. |  |
