Much of Caineville Road, while very scenic, is outside the Capitol Reef Park boundary. There is a short side road which leads back into the park toward Glass Mountain, Temple of the Sun and Temple of the Moon. Glass Mountain is a mound of pure gypsum crystals; fascinating for those with a geological interest. The Temples of the Sun and the Moon shown here are hallowed impressive monuments, but to me, no more impressive than many of the others in the area. Photographers will be rewarded by being here first thing in the morning when I understand the view is most beautiful. Our timing wasn't quite right. |
