Located between Grand Lake and Estes Park in north-central Colorado, Rocky Mountain National Park was established in 1915. Ranging in elevation from 8000 to over 14,000 feet, the park exhibits a wide variety of mountain attributes. Since March, 2009, 95% of the park has been designated as wilderness, so the natural beauty of the area is permanently protected by an act of Congress. You can view much of this scenic wilderness from paved roads or the dozens of hiking trails throughout the park. |
