Above is Landscape Arch at Arches National Park, Utah. It's one of the largest natural arches in the world with a span of about 290 feet. Its neighbor, Partition Arch is a much smaller arch shown in the center of the photo below; with Landscape Arch at the left edge. I expect Partition Arch will be a much larger arch one day. You can already see an alcove in the rock and imagine how it might look. When I return to the park in a million years, erosion will have eliminated Landscape Arch, and Partition Arch might look much like Landscape Arch does today. I'll post a new photo when that happens. |
