There's a popular snowshoe route that begins near Gore Creek Campground in East Vail. Any fresh snow gets packed quickly by snowshoers each day. So snowshoes are not usually needed for the loop hike, which takes less than an hour. Gore Creek is shown here nearly buried under the snow.
