The colors of autumn are gone now and we're waiting for snow. This photo was taken at Black Lake #1, the larger of two reservoirs at the top of Vail Pass along I-70. Once a natural lake, Black Lake has been enlarged and a lower lake, Black Lake #2 has been created for water storage. The lakes are used to augment stream flow into Gore Valley during winter.
