This panorama was taken June 5, at about 12,900 feet, on Mount Evans. At this time of year the road is typically not cleared to the 14,264 foot summit, as was the case this day. I was told when I paid my six dollar fee to drive up the mountain road that it was open only to Summit Lake and that it would be about two weeks until the remaining five miles of road were plowed of snow. Perhaps another day I'll create a panorama from the summit of Mount Evans, or better yet, climb a mountain on which there is no road to the summit. There is no fee to do that. |
