Bowman's Shortcut Trail is known as Commando Run in the winter. It's a cross country ski route from Vail Mountain to Shrine Pass. In the summer, hikers can drive to the trailhead on Lime Creek Road near Shrine Pass and hike the trail to the top of this ridge at nearly 11,700 feet. This panorama was shot on the high ridge which affords views of Gore, Sawatch and Tenmile mountain ranges. Continuing north, Bowman's Shortcut intersects with Two Elk National Recreation Trail, a long hiking route between Minturn and East Vail through Vail's back bowls. More Bowmans Panoramas |
