No tour of Prince William Sound would be complete without mentioning oil. Tankers are filled by the 800-mile trans-Alaska pipeline terminal here in Port Valdez. This is a shot of 788 foot Chevron Mississippi. It is small compared to the 987 foot Exxon Valdez which ran aground on Bligh Reef in March, 1989 spilling nearly 11 million gallons of crude oil into Prince William Sound.
