To climb Mt. Sherman I parked my car at the end of Lake County 2 & 6 in Iowa Gulch, about seven miles west of Leadville, Colorado. I should have stopped to look at my topographic map before getting to the end of the road because I was a little confused which way to start the climb. With help from some other climbers parked in the same spot, I determined not to climb into Iowa Amphitheatre but instead a little further south into the gulch. It took about an hour to climb to the saddle between Mt. Sherman and Mt. Sheridan. This is the view east over the saddle. White Ridge is at upper left and what remains of Dauntless Mine is below.
