Devils Causeway is a narrow ridge top in Flat Tops Wilderness near Yampa, Colorado. It's well known for the fear it instills in hikers as they approach or cross it. Devils Causeway is reached by hikers via East Fork Trail or Devils Causeway Trail, usually beginning at Stillwater Reservoir or Trappers Lake. Extreme caution should be taken while on this dangerous ridge. It is not a safe place for children. Drops on both sides are severe and there is very little room for error. Acrophobia can quickly set in, causing dizziness. The trail to Devils Causeway from Stillwater Reservoir west of Yampa climbs about 1600 feet in just over three miles. This panorama was taken near the narrowest most dangerous section of the ridge at about 11,800 feet. Please click here to view a panorama taken near the trail about 800 feet below. After crossing Devils Causeway, in about a mile, hikers will find themselves on Chinese Wall Trail. Click here to view panoramas from there. |
