Winter Park
Winter Park Ski Area opened in 1940. It was one of the first ski areas in the United States. Before the Moffat Railroad Tunnel conquered the Continental Divide, there was no town and few people in this part of Colorado. Since then, for more than 60 years the Winter Park Ski Train has provided easy access to skiers from Denver. The ski area rises from the end of the Moffat Tunnel at 9000 feet to the summit at over 12,000 feet.

I lived in Colorado for many years before taking the opportunity to ski Winter Park Resort in 2002. As luck would have it, my first visit was on a cloudy day. Despite the clouds, I got out the camera and took these photos.
